Admissions Policy Notice – Oct 2020
Dear Prospective Parent/Guardian,
In 2020 The Board of Management of Cork Educate Together N.S. ratified a new Admissions Policy which complies with the requirements of the Education Act 1998, the Education (Admissions to Schools) Act 2018 and the Equal Status Act 2000. This policy was approved by the Patron of the school, the Executive Committee.
The new Admissions Policy replaces our previous Enrolment Policy and as such we are not allowed to accept names on any of our waiting lists since February 2020. However we are allowed to honour our existing waiting lists and the criteria associated with them up to and including the Junior Infant class of 2024/2025. Below is an an overview of how the new Admissions Policy will be phased in.
Applicants for September 2021 and September 2022:
It is expected that the Junior Infant class for 2021 and 2022 will be filled from the waiting list already in place.
Applicants for September 2023 and September 2024:
If there are places available in 2023 and 2024 (beyond those filled from waiting list already in place) then the following process will be applied:
- An Annual Admissions Form will be published on this website
- A two-week admissions period will follow publication of the Annual Admissions Form
- All applications received during this fortnight will be judged according to the criteria in the new Admissions Policy and as also outlined below
- Siblings of children enrolled in the school at this time.
- Children who have reached age 4 before the 31st December the year before they are applying for.
- Children who have reached age 4 before the 30th April of the year they are applying for.
- All other applicants.
Applicants for September 2025 onwards:
All places for Junior Infants from September 2025 onwards will be filled according to the new Admissions Policy process outlined above

The Educate Together Charter of 1990 affirms that children of all social, cultural, religious and non-religious backgrounds have a right to an education that reflects their individual identity whilst exploring the different values and traditions of the world in which they live.
This is an established single stream school opened in 1987. There is an administrative principal, eight class teachers and four learning support/resource teachers.
